January: Flavours and Music Festival at Castelbuono near Palermo.
February: Experience the Almond in Flower folk festival in Agrigento, or the Carnival in Acireale.
March: Discover the famous Carnivale in Sciacca, or join in the feasts throughout the island on Saint Joseph's Day, trying the zeppole cakes.
April: Celebrate Easter in Sicily, sample the best regional produce at the cheese festival in Vizzini. The bird watching season starts in Spring.
May: Caltagirone is transformed with colourful floral displays for the Infiorata festival, the Vittoria Jazz Festival commences at the end of the month and runs through till June.
June: Enjoy celebrations in the artisan town of Sciacca at the Azzurro Festival with music, art and food. Discover Sicilian wine at the Inycon festival in Menfi, admire artisan craftmanship in the Caltagirone Ceramics Festival, or attend screenings under the stars in the ancient Greek amphitheatre at the Taormina International Film Festival.
July: Experience the wine and blues festival in Agrigento and discover the San Vito Jazz Festival in San Vito Lo Capo.
August: Drink under the stars at leading Sicilian winderies during the Calici di Stelle, the Gattopardo Festival in Santa Margherita di Belice, see history come alive at the Palio dei Normanni medieval festival in Piazza Armerina. The turtle breeding season starts in August and runs through till September.
September: Celebrate Sicilian and North African culinary traditions at the Cous Cous Festival in San Vito Lo Capo.
October: Watch street artists perfrom all over the world in Ragusa at the modern Ibla Busker Festival.
November: Palermo hosts the Festival di Morgana which celebrates the Sicilian puppetry tradition, the magnificent Cathedral in Monreale is the base for the International Holy Music Festival. Celebrate one of Italy's greatest authors at the Pirandello week.
December: EtnaFest is Catania's Festival of music and culture, feast on chocolate at Modica's Chocobarocco Festival and enjoy regional Christmas music and admire nativity scenes throughout the island.
